Wedding festivities are well underway in Stockholm today for Saturday’s big day. HRH Crown Princess Victoria and her fiancé Daniel Westling have been out in public today at a number of events. In addition, royals from all over Europe have arrived in Stockholm for what is reported to be the biggest royal wedding since the Prince of Wales married Princess Diana.

The start of the day was the final rehearsal in the Cathedral along with the entire wedding party. This included appearances by four Crown Princesses (including the bride). Crown Princesses Mary of Demark, Mette-Marit of Norway, and Maxima of the Netherlands arrived with their children who will take part in the ceremony. Mette-Marit was quoted as saying that the rehearsal went just fine. The Government then held a reception at Stockholm City Hall where representatives of local governments were able to pass on their best wishes to the couple. Eighty percent of the municipalities were represented, all got to speak with the bride and groom directly.

Later in the day was the Government banquet with 270 guests; many of them were European royalty as well as the family of the bride and groom. Royals from Monaco, England, Holland, Norway, Jordan, and others were in attendance (see the slideshow below). The Prime Minister gave a toast to the couple that was quite touching and reflected what we have all been seeing, that the Princess has been glowing throughout this period of engagement. He said: “Never have we seen the Crown Princess as happy as now. Since your engagement we have all witnessed the power of your love, and the strength of your relationship.” After the dinner concluded, the couple and guests headed to the Stockholm Concert Hall. There was a gift from parliament in the form of a gala performance. Victoria and Daniel arrived to loud cheers from the public gathered outside.?
