As the host of "Chao Ji Fang Wen," or the "Super Gather News," Li Jing has a personal style that has become one of the highlights of her show.

Her interviews with various celebrities attract millions of viewers.

Unlike many other talk-show hosts, Li always presents a causal and easygoing image.

She expresses her opinions without restraint and shares her sad or happy feelings with her viewers.

Sometimes she comes up with sharp, impromptu and interesting questions that provoke honest responses and help the audience learn the true character of her interviewees.

Always frank and fully-prepared, Li says she doesn't worry about making her celebrity guests irate.

"They do not reject difficult questions. They will get annoyed when they feel you know nothing about them and just ask blindly. Actually, my questions are not sharp at all. They are just frank and to the point."

Li's career began after she graduated from the Beijing Film Academy in 1992 and started working at Beijing Television Station as the host of a news program called "Good Morning, Beijing."

Later she went to work for China Central Television Station, presenting two variety shows.

However after working in CCTV for 3 years, she left her enviable job and returned to school.

"During that period of time, I only had to spend two hours a week recording my show, and all the other time I was free. I had nothing to do except sleep. I felt my life was hollow and meaningless. One of my friends told me that if you cannot restart or change your life, then go to learn something."

It was then that Li met Dai Jun, a previously popular singer who later became her television co-host.

The two got together a group of young men to start their own TV program in 2002. They called the program "Super Gather News" and produced it in a small one-story, ranch-style house in Beijing.

As a local startup program, "Super Gather News" lacked a reputation at the beginning and only had an initial investment of only 40,000 yuan, or less that 5,900 U.S. dollars, all provided by Li.

The first year the program almost went bankrupt, and the group had to borrow money from friends to start filming the next season.

"It was really a hard time for me. I tried to appear happy on camera, but in real life all the troubles and worries were too enormous to imagine. Every day I just thought about one thing, which was how to find an investor to keep my show running. "

In 2003, the second year that a local television station broadcasted "Super Gather News," more viewers came to appreciate the program's lively and humorous style. As a result, the show landed its first sponsor.

"In 2003, we got our first sponsorship. It encouraged me as I don't need to borrow the money any more, we could earn it ourselves. I could afford the whole crew with my show. That gave me a sense of achievement. It made me understand that I could do something meaningful for me and for the others."

As the show became more popular, Li Jing's name also won national fame. As a host of a privately owned program, she enjoyed a greater reputation among viewers than many others who worked at larger TV stations.

The success of "Super Gather News" didn't stop Li's progress. In only a few years, she started her own media company, which produced and promoted several other top-rated shows.

As the company's CEO and the host of several shows, Li energetically devoted herself to her career.

Huang Xiaomao, Li Jing's husband, tells us more about her busy life.

"She used to have a nickname "Li Bazu," which literally means that she could handle eight casting crews at the same time. That's no exaggeration at all. Sometimes I saw her schedule notes, which were heavily marked with every arrangement. I don't think I can handle such situations as well as she does."

As much as she likes working as a host and producer, Li herself is quite at ease with her job.

"I like the uncertainty within this job. You know, some jobs require obedience, but for the media industry, you need subversion and creativity. I enjoy the process of planning, grouping, discussing and finally coming up with a popular show. It's a challenging job, but it can give me great satisfaction."

Work becomes enjoyable when a person can do his or her job with skill and ease. Currently, Li finds herself in such a situation no matter whether she's in charge of hosting a program or adjusting her attitude toward life.

Besides being a successful businessperson and TV program host, Li is also a mother.

Aside from work, she tries to spend as much time as she can with her daughter, whose innocent behaviors always surprises and inspires Li Jing.

"Once when we played hide-and-seek with my daughter, she ran into the bathroom and lifted the toilet lid to find her father. I thought it was an ingenious advertising idea which grownups could hardly come up with. And sometimes I like to imitate her childish talk on my shows, which helps to bring out a humorous effect."

With a happy family and an enviable career, Li Jing seems to have a blessed fortune.

Although she says that there is no pie in the sky, people with dreams can create their own pie with persistence and hard work.

"I'm not an active person with a lot of initiative, but I'm not afraid of difficulties either. Some people say that I have achieved a lot, but I have to say that I didn't plan for anything. I just directly face whatever happens in my life and try my best to deal with it."
