A foul is illegal contact with your body. Whether it's a chopping down on the hands or you're reaching in trying to steal the ball and you hit their hand, or if you're going to shoot, there's contact on your shot, or if it's just running and there's a simple bump. It's illegal contact. That's a foul, offensively or defensively.
