Divorce is likely to be a major influence on Adele’s next record, as the Grammy-winning singer finalized her split from husband Simon Konecki this weekend.

The pair—who are reportedly mediating joint custody of child Angelo—had initially announced an amicable split this year, and officially filed for divorce on Thursday.

The singer had no comment on the matter, but in April stated through representatives Benny Tarantini and Carl Fysh that “Adele and her partner have separated.

Adele and Konecki, a former Lehman Brothers employee who left in 2005 and founded eco-friendly water company Life Water, reportedly began dating in 2011, and married in a secret ceremony five years later.
