For the first time since Matt Bomer came out publicly, the actor and his longtime partner Simon Halls made a rare red carpet appearance at the American Fertility Association's Illuminations event in L.A. Saturday. Ryan Murphy presented Halls with an award for being a champion for family building in all communities.

White Collar star Bomer, 34, and Slate PR co-founder Halls, 48, are the proud parents of sons Kit, Walker and Henry, all of whom were born via surrogate. "People who are having babies this way, we've jumped through I can't tell you how many hoops, so it's not just like, 'It'll be fun to be a parent,'" Halls told W in 2008. "We are very committed."

Though Bomer dodged rumors about his sexuality for years, he lovingly acknowledged his partner in February when he was honored with the New Generation Arts and Activism Award for his work in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

"I'd really especially like to thank my beautiful family: Simon, Kit, Walker, Henry," Bomer told the crowd. "Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. You will always be my proudest accomplishment."

Bomer, who recently filmed a guest spot on Glee, next plays an exotic dancer in Magic Mike (in theaters June 29). Halls was recently included in OUT's annual The Power List.
