哈爾濱國際冰雪節(jié)（the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival）正式始于1985年。在每年的1月5日，節(jié)日正式開始,持續(xù)時間為一個月。但是，如果天氣狀況允許的話，展覽開始得會更早，持續(xù)的時間也會稍長一些。每年，哈爾濱的藝術(shù)家們將從臨近河道中取來的巨大冰塊進行不可思議的改造，經(jīng)過上萬名工匠近20天的辛苦勞作，一座奇幻的冰雪之城拔地而起。在白天，哈爾濱已足以令人眼前一亮，然而這座夢幻島的神奇之處在日落時方為突顯。中國各地的游客們齊聚哈爾濱，觀賞這些壯美的冰雕藝術(shù)品。

The Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival was formally established in 1985. Officially, the festival starts on January 5th and lasts for one month every year. However, the exhibition often opens earlier and stays longer, weather permitting. Each year the artists of Harbin make magical transformations over giant blocks of ice from nearby rivers, and after nearly 20 days’ construction by tens of thousands of craftsmen, a fantastic ice city springs up all around. The city is impressive enough by day but the magic of this wonderland only becomes apparent once the sun goes down. Tourists flock to Harbin from all over China to enjoy the sight of the spectacular carvings.
