Chinese writer Mo Yan won the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Swedish Academy (瑞典文學院) announced on October 11.
10月11日，瑞典文學院宣布中國作家莫言摘得2012諾貝爾文學獎桂冠。

Mo Yan, the first Chinese national to win the prize, said that he was “surprised” and “delighted” at his winning.
莫言作為第一位此獎項的中國籍作家，他說他感到很驚訝，同時也表示很高興。

Mo Yan, whose real name is Guan Moye (管謨業(yè)), was born in 1955 and grew up in a small village in Gaomi (高密), Shandong province.
莫言，原名管謨業(yè)。生于1955年，山東高密的一個小村莊。

Many of his novels are set in his hometown, including his best known work, Red Sorghum (《紅高粱》). The novel was made into an Oscar- nominated film by director Zhang Yimou in 1987. Some of his works have been translated into English, French, Japanese and many other languages.
他很多小說都以他的家鄉(xiāng)為背景，其中包括他最著名的作品《紅高粱》。1987年，這本小說由張藝謀導演翻拍成同名電影，獲得奧斯卡提名。他很多小說都被翻譯成英語，法語，日語及其他語言的版本。

After learning that he had won the prize, Mo thanked his hometown for inspiring him. He said in a television interview that he was very thankful to the land where he grew up and that he goes back there every year.
莫言在得知他獲獎之后，他表示很感謝他家鄉(xiāng)對他的啟迪。他在電視采訪時說他非常感謝那片養(yǎng)育了他的土地，他每年都會回去。

The academy said in a statement: “In his writing, Mo Yan draws on his youthful experiences and on settings in the province of his birth. This is apparent in his novel Red Sorghum.”
文學院在聲明中說：“在他的文字中，莫言展現(xiàn)了他年輕的經(jīng)驗，表現(xiàn)了他家鄉(xiāng)的風貌。此特征在他的小說《紅高粱》中表現(xiàn)明顯?！?/div>

Through a mixture of fantasy and reality, historical and social perspectives, Mo Yan has created such a complex world that reminds people of those in the writings of William Faulkner* and Gabriel Garcia Marquez*; at the same time, he has found a departure point (出發(fā)點) in old Chinese literature and in oral (口頭的) tradition, the academy commented.
文學院評論說，莫言通過對虛幻與現(xiàn)實，歷史與社會的交錯描述，表達了一個復雜的世界，這讓人們不禁想起了威廉??？思{，馬奎斯的寫作風格；同時，他也找到了中國古典文學和口頭傳統(tǒng)文學的出口。

The winner of the prize will be awarded a gold medal, a diploma and 8 million Swedish kronor (about 7.5 million yuan).
?諾貝爾文學獎的獲得者將榮獲一枚獎牌，一張證書，8億克朗（折合人民幣約750萬）。
